Painter & Academician
Prof. Dr. Ridvan Coskun is a faculty member at the Department of Painting, Faculty of Fine Arts, Anadolu University, and currently serves as the head of the department. He completed his undergraduate, graduate, and proficiency in art studies at Anadolu University and has continued his academic work at the same institution for many years. Between 2018 and 2025, he served as the Director of the Anadolu University Museum of Contemporary Arts.
Focusing his artistic and academic work on art education, contemporary art theories, conceptual art, and the relationship between art and technology, Coskun addresses themes such as history, memory, mythology, and cultural identity through a contemporary and conceptual approach. He has held numerous solo exhibitions in Turkey and abroad, and has participated in many national and international group exhibitions and art events.
As an entrepreneurial academician, he is among the founding partners of Umay Museum Design and Technologies Ltd. Co., established in 2015 within ATAP at Anadolu University Technopark. In this context, he works on contemporary museum design, digital exhibition technologies, immersive experience environments, and the digital reproduction of cultural heritage.
Working at the intersection of art and technology, Coskun conducts research on the digital revitalization of historical spaces through virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technologies, and develops museum design and implementation projects in this field. With the VRKronos virtual reality project, which brings together art, history, and technology, he produces experiential works that take audiences on a journey through time and develops projects that contribute to cultural tourism.
He also works on content production and design infrastructures for digital art, blockchain technologies, NFT platforms, digital games, and metaverse environments, developing projects that aim to bring national and international cultural heritage together with art through technological tools. He publishes academic articles on art, conducts scientific research projects, and contributes to international collaborations.
